Samaria Herrera [pictured left] earned her high school equivalency! Not having finished primary school in Puebla, Mexico, she began her journey in Ms. Campos’ class in 2020 during the pandemic, when everything was online. She couldn’t fit the class into her schedule, so she took it at work—participating during her shifts at her sewing machine. In 2022, she left the program after passing only the social studies portion. Samaria returned in 2023, got discouraged, then returned again to conquer the four remaining sections. Her accomplishment inspired her sister, Lidia [pictured right], to join the Saturday program at Mid-City. Samaria, you are not only an inspiration to your sister, but to all of us. Keep inspiring us!
