Nish Gao has a Cal State LA Finance degree and a property management career — but she wanted to understand repairs well enough to do them herself. So she enrolled in AFOC's Construction program.
"There's no limit to education. I can do the work myself now — I don't have to outsource."
As a woman entering the trades, she wasn't sure what to expect. She found a welcoming instructor and a program that met her where she was.
"Can I hire myself out? I'm getting that good."
