Maria Contreras is now a U.S. citizen!
Maria Contreras is now a U.S. citizen! She had been eligible to apply for the past ten years, having received her green card 15 years ago. So, why now? Maria credits her classmate from her ESL class at AFOC, Hermelinda Felix, for inspiring her to apply. Hermelinda recently earned her own citizenship after taking Mr. Trujillo’s class and advised Maria to join Mr. Trujillo’s class as well. Maria also appreciates her teachers at AFOC, Luis Gomez and substitute teacher Sofia Mayoral, for encouraging her throughout the process. She plans to continue her ESL studies at AFOC alongside her classmate Hermelinda. Congratulations, Maria! Keep learning and reaching new goals!
