Electrician Program
Electrical Training Program Hands-on Career Preparation in Energy and Power Technology
The Electrical Training Program is a structured three-course sequence designed to prepare students for careers as electricians or electrical technicians. Aligned with industry standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum, this program emphasizes safety, technical knowledge, and real-world application in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems.
Course 1: Fundamentals
Students begin with a strong foundation in electrical theory, tools, materials, basic circuitry, and safety practices. This course introduces the fundamental skills needed in the electrical field and provides hands-on lab experience with basic wiring and circuits.
Course 2: Wiring and Codes
The second course focuses on the National Electrical Code (NEC), permitting, wiring design, materials, and installation techniques. Students learn to interpret electrical codes, work with general-use equipment, and apply safety regulations in various environments, including special occupancies and conditions.
Course 3: Wiring Techniques
In this advanced capstone course, students deepen their understanding of instrumentation, wire color coding, and blueprint reading. Emphasis is placed on proper wiring methods, technical problem-solving, and interpreting electrical plans and schematics for complex projects.
Each course builds progressively, combining classroom instruction with practical lab work to ensure students are job-ready upon completion. This program is ideal for those pursuing entry-level employment or apprenticeships in the electrical industry.
