Child Development Program
Prepare for a Meaningful Career in Early Childhood Education
The Child Development Program is a comprehensive, three-course sequence designed to equip students with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to work in early childhood education settings. Through a blend of classroom instruction and supervised fieldwork, students gain practical skills in child growth and development, curriculum planning, and program supervision.
Students begin with foundational training in developmental theories, communication, critical thinking, and health and safety practices. In the second course, they explore curriculum design with an emphasis on play-based learning, academic subject integration, and the importance of family and community engagement. The final course focuses on supervisory roles, covering topics such as program evaluation, staff coordination, and leadership in early education environments.
Each course includes a minimum of 30 hours of fieldwork in child care or early education settings, ensuring real-world application of classroom learning. Upon completion of the program, students will be well-prepared for employment as early childhood education assistants or to pursue further studies in the field.
